Designed by renowned Ontario, Canada paddle maker, Ray Kettlewell, the Modified Ottertail paddle is a beautiful paddle ideal for solo or tandem paddling and makes a great paddle for all day paddling.
The Modified Ottertail is a variant of the classic Ottertail paddle with its broader shoulders at the top of the blade. This puts the widest part of the blade near the paddler’s lowest hand and offers better control and greater power. This paddle is Ideal for those paddlers who like the classic Ottertail design but are looking for a little more surface area to pull with.

Finish
- Finished with a clear high gloss varnish
- Cherry wood varies in colour and tone. Because of the nature of the wood, there may be slight variations in the colour of the wood as every paddle is unique and individually made.
Length
- Refer to sizing chart image to choose the appropriate paddle length
- Measure the distance between the floor and your nose to provide the approximate length that you will need. If the paddler is still growing, you may choose to order a paddle that is 1 to 2 inches longer so they can grow into it.
